Adams Street is closed for good

It is most likely closed do to the nearby hospital and its expansion. If not, it would have closed eventually for its poor treatment and service of the Gay men who did spend money there. I left a review here about Adams Street a few years ago. It has been deleted. It was a negative but honest review of the club. There is no integrity with Gay Cities reviews if they are removing some of the reviews. They seem to be picking an choosing which ones will remain. At one time Adams Street was a great place for Gay men. However, the club began catering to young straight couples and some were even underage. **This used to be a club that was strictly to men who were 21 or over. ** So, as far as I was concerned the original Adams Street had already disappeared. One of the male strippers who was performing with others at Adams Street was making his rounds through the club trying to pick up tips and the other strippers were doing the same. He started rubbing on me and my partner. We really did not want this but then he demanded a tip from us and sort of threatened us and then we watched him quickly head back to his dressing room get his stuff and leave the bar. I contacted the club the next day and the person that answered the phone said they would have someone call me back. No one ever called back. There were other issues with some of the bartenders at the main bar who would absolutely ignore myself and my partner when trying to get drinks. The young straight girls and guys who were most likely underage never seemed to have an issue getting served and my partner and I who are middle-aged and Gay could not get service from the bar. We are drinkers and we will spend quite bit of money on a night out and we tip at minimum $1 per drink. None of this made any sense to us.

Fun dance spot

I was only here once. By the time I arrived after 1am, I was pretty buzzed. However, my boyfriend, who was DD for the night, and I both had a great time here. Were we the only ones dancing? Yes. But that's why we came, and the high-energy DJ, DJ Steve, was incredible. He played all of our requests as we tore up the small dance floor until after 2:30. The crowd was mostly older with a few 20somethings mixed in. Drinks were cheaper than Interbelt or Square. Although Adams feels really safe inside, the area around it isn't the greatest, but then again, it's Akron. Adams Street seems to have a unique history as a long-standing LGBT venue in Akron. We'll be back for the Saturday late-night dancing and amazing DJ and the cheaper drinks.

Hmm.

Only been here a few times. No ones talkative and the bar tender i've encountered there is pretty rude. Might give it a few more tries but not expecting a good night out.

Hit and Miss

Adam's Street is the first gay bar that I ever went to. It was awesome. The crowds these days seem to be hit and miss. The area around looks seedy but I have never had any trouble here. Good mix of people when it is crowded
