Started in the basement of a flower shop, it is an artist driven event that sees over 100 audience members, 30 performances and 6 non-stop hours of art. Sign ups to perform begin one-half hour (7:30 pm) before performances (8:00 pm) start. Anyone may sign up for a 10-minute slot. An emcee, house drum kit and sound system (with operators) are provided. Jeff Klemm – of Maid Myriad and JCK and the Letters – is this month’s emcee. ALL varieties of acts are encouraged to perform. Previous acts have included: monologues, acoustic musicians, play readings, comedians, experimental art, dancers, scenes from plays, improv, devised work, full rock bands and performance artists. But the sky is the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker! ALL levels – from beginner to the most experienced – are encouraged to perform. Those under 18 are permitted to attend (and perform!) with adult supervision. The #EPCooker is not just an Open Mic. It is an open and welcoming community of artists. It is also a great networking event, a great place to improve stage presence and a great place to develop as an artist. Pub Bricco has a full bar and a wide selection of food. Food and alcohol are permitted in the theatre. ABOUT THE EMCEE: Dubbed the "Hardest Working Man In Akron Show Business" American singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound engineer, Jeff Klemm is based out of Northeast Ohio best known for his work as MAID MYRIAD's frontman and guitarist in the now defunct VIA LOTUS. He has performed his music all over the country many times over embarking on several national full band and solo acoustic tours. His accomplished work as a sound engineer has been showcased prominently in national venues and mainstream radio stations. Maid Myriad, boasting a beautiful but potent style of post-progressive/alternative/pop they like to refer to as kaleidoscope rock, blends dynamically versatile songs, angst-fueled progressive riffs, delicate pin drop moments, and intense start/stop dynamics. The other side to his creative cerebral coin, KLEMM'S "crooning acrobatic vocals and spiderweb fingerpicking acoustic guitar" has earned his solo sets such praise as "Sounds like if Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake went out on a full moon heartbreak bar crawl." KLEMM also brings his soaring vocals to a new level with his fresh solo project JEFF KLEMM & THE LETTERS. Combining infectious hooks, a keen pop sensibility, and an obtusely introspective way of speaking through lyrics, THE LETTERS are excited to showcase a batch of brand new songs feverishly written during the cruel OHIO winter. JEFF KLEMM'S perspective on love, addiction and traveling the country will break your heart and burrow its way into your head like a lovable fever cold. KLEMM is recording his first solo record set to be released in Fall 2015. MAID MYRIAD will continue touring in support of their debut full length album "With Haste On Its Breath" throughout 2015 and beyond.
